- 1.Iran nuclear talks Reaches "Historic Understanding"
- The talks between the so-called P5+1 - the US, UK, France, China and Russia plus Germany - and Iran at Lausanne's Beau-Rivage Palace hotel (switzerland) announced a historic understanding for a long-term nuclear agreement with Iran the agreements put certain limits on Iran's nuclear programme which would severely restrict Iran’s ability to make nuclear weapons for more than a decade.The world powers and Iran now aim to draft a comprehensive nuclear agreement by 30 June
- A nuclear weapons–free Iran:-
- Iran has agreed to cut its installed centrifuges (the machines that spin and enrich uranium) by two-thirds from about 19,000 to about 6,000, of which only 5,060 will be allowed to operate for the next 10 years. Iran also agreed not to use more advanced centrifuge models for a decade. For 15 years, it will not enrich uranium beyond a low level and will restrict its stockpile of low-enriched uranium to 300 kilograms — not enough for a single weapon
- Iran would also either convert its stockpile of enriched uranium to oxide or ship it overseas

- The US and Iran have been in bitter relationship since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and hostage-taking at the US embassy in Tehran this agreement will bring positive change in the relationship of the countries and open doors to oppertunities
- Economic sanctions imposed on Iran by the United States, the European Union and others have significantly restricted international commercial opportunities with Iran,but the agreement will improve global relationship with Iran
- 2. Sunita Tomar the Face of India's anti tobacco campaign dies with cancer
- Sunita Tomar the face of Indias's anti tobacco campaign "Lives Bachao Size badhao" took her last breath as she lost her long battle with oral cancer caused due to chewing of tobacco. After being through pain she decided to warn other's through her own experience of long pain and suffering.Sunita replaced Mukesh in the campaign in August.Sunita, 32, was admitted to Mumbai's Tata Memorial Hospital after doctors suspected cancer relapse.

- India has the highest prevalence of oral cancer globally, with 75,000 to 80,000 new cases of oral cancers being reported every year, according to a health report submitted by the Ministry of Health in consultation with National Institute of Health and Family Welfare on the ill-effects of chewing tobacco.
- A recent study,estimated that the total economic costs attributable to tobacco use from all diseases in India in the year 2011 amounted to a staggering Rs 1,04,500 crore - 12 percent more than the combined state and central government expenditure on health care in the same year

- He was born in Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh in 1936
- Kailash got his Masters degree from Lucknow University , and completed his P.hd at the age of 24
- He also received the 'Vachaspati' title from Lucknow University
- He was a visiting professor at the University of Mexico from 1973 to 1976
- He had published Sankrant, his first volume of poems, in 1964
- he has published over 28 books, including 14 volumes of poetry.

- 5. President gives his node for re-promulgating the "Land Acquisition Ordinance"
- The land acquisition ordinance which could not get converted in to legislation due to the opposition in the Rajya Sabha so President Pranab Mukherjee signed the ordinance re-promulgating as recommended by the union cabinet on March 31 earlier to 5th april the day the ordinance would have lapsed according to article 123 in The Constitution Of India 1949
- The ordinance has nine amendments that reflects Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, that was passed in Lok Sabha sought to replace the ordinance that was promulgated in December. President prorogued 234th session of the rajya sabha.Opposition parties demanded the passage of the original land bill that was passed during the UPA regime

- If at any time,when both Houses of Parliament are not in session the President feels that circumstances exist which need immediate action he can issue an ordinance
- An Ordinance issued under this article shall have the same force and effect as an Act of Parliament
- It should be passed from both the the houses of parliament within six weeks from the day both the houses are in session

A. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan received an honorary Doctorate from the Egyptian Academy of Arts.

2. LAND ORDINANCE GETS NOD FROM PRESIDENT:
