1. BCCI APPOINTS NEW CHIEF ADVISER OF ANTI-CORRUPTION AND SECURITY UNIT:
.    BCCI has appointed Neeraj Kumar as new Chief Adviser ofAnti-corruption and security unit (ACSU).
.    Neeraj Kumar is a 1976 batch IPS officer and was former Delhi police Commissioner.
.    Neeraj Kumar replaced Ravi Sawant to be the Chief Adviser of Anti-corruption and Security unit.

2.   NASIM ZAIDI APPOINTED AS CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER OF INDIA:
.    Election Commission of India has appointed Nasim Zaidi to be the Chief Election Commissioner of India.
.    Nasim Zaidi succeeded Hari Shankar Brahma.
.    Nasim Zaidi is a 1976 batch IAS officer and had served as theDirector General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

3. INDIAN RAILWAYS LAUNCHED E-SAMIKSHA:
.    Indian Railways has launched E-Samiksha to monitor rail projects online.
.    E-Samiksha an online monitoring mechanism is designed byNational Informatics Centre (NIC).
.    E-Samiksha aims as monitoring implementation of various ongoing projects of Railways on real time basis.

4. CIVIL SERVICES DAY OBSERVED ON 21ST APRIL:
.    Ninth Civil Services Day was observed on 21st April, 2015.
.    Civil Services Day is observed by all civil servants to re-dedicateand re-commit themselves to the cause of the people.
Note: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a book on this event titled “Best Practices –Tomorrow is there”

5. NOVAK DJOKOVIC WON MONTE CARLO MASTERS TITLE:
.    Novak Djokovic has won his second Monte Carlo Masters title of Tennis.
.    Novak Djokovic of Serbia defeated Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic.
.    This was Novak Djokovic’s 23rd World tennis Title which brings him equal to Roger Federar and just 4 titles behind Rafael Nadal.

THREE-TIME ODISHA CM JANAKI BALLABH PATNAIK TAKES HIS LAST BREATH
  • Three-time Chief Minister of Odisha and senior Congress leader Janaki Ballabh Patnaik, 89 passed away in Tirupati.He was admitted to a local hospital after he complained of chest pain late last night
  • About Janaki Ballabh Patnaik :-
  • Patnaik was born on January 3, 1927
  • He had MA degree in Political Science from the Banaras Hindu University in 1949
  • Mr Patnaik passed out with a degree in Sanskrit from the Utkal University in 1947 
  • He was President of the Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee youth In 1980
  • He was Chief Minister of Odisha from 1980 to 1989 and again from 1995 to 1999 
  • He had been the Governor of Assam between 2009 and 2014.
  • In 1980, he became the Union Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation and Labour.



CIVIL SERVICES DAY
  • 21st April is celebrated as Civil Services day every year the day is observed by all Civil Services to re-dedicate and re-commit themselves to the cause of the people.
  • The focus of this year is ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’ with specific sectoral emphasis
  • Three public administration categories-Individual, Team and Organization-have been selected for the prestigious Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration
  • The award includes a medal, scroll and a cash prize.
  • Mr Modi will also release a book named 'Best Practices- Tomorrow is Here' on the occasion.
  • Unlike previous years, the Civil Services Day is being held on two days this year.



FORMER DELHI POLICE COMMISSIONER NEERAJ KUMAR APPOINTED CHIEF ADVISER TO BCCI'S ACSU
  • Former Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has been appointed as chief adviser of the BCCI's Anti Corruption & Security Unit (ACSU) for a term of one year.
  • The decision to appoint Kumar to the top post was taken at the Governing Council Meeting of the Indian Premier League New Delhi, which was chaired by IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla
  • Earlier Ravi Sawani was the chief of the ACSU before his term ended.
  • It was under Kumar’s leadership that Delhi Police arrested former Test bowler S.Sreesanth along with domestic spinners Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila for allegedly getting involved in spot-fixing while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the
  • sixth edition of the Indian Premier League.
  • He retired as Delhi's Commissioner of Police on July 31, 2013 
  • BANGLADESH MADE HISTORIC SERIES-WIN AGAINST PAKISTAN
  • In the second ODI played at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Bangladesh secured a seven-wicket victory in the second ODI against Pakistan
  • Bangladesh recorded their first series-win against Pakistan in 16 years after opener Tamim Iqbal's second successive century secured a seven-wicket victory in the second ODI
  • Tamim, who had scored 132 in the first game, leading their successful chase with nearly 12 overs to spare. Bangladesh restricted Pakistan to a modest 6 for 239 and chased down 240 to beat Pakistan by seven wickets and clinch the 3 match ODI series.



KERALA GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES PROJECT ‘SUBODHAM’TO HELP PEOPLE OVERCOME ALCOHOL, DRUG ADDICTION
  • The Kerala government on  launched a major campaign "Subodham" to help people overcome alcohol, drug addiction and other substance abuse.
  • The project was launched by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Art of Living Foundation founder Sri Sri Ravishankar and NGOs working against drug abuse.
  • The state government aims to wipe out the menace of substance addiction from our society through 'Subodham'.
  • The "Subodham" project, envisaged by the excise department, will be implemented by a high-level committee comprising experts from various fields.
  • Excise Minister K. Babu is the chairman of "Subodham"
  • The campaign aims to free one lakh people from drug and alcohol addiction each year.



CENTRE PARTY WINS PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS OF FINLAND
  • Finland's opposition Centre Party came out on top in Sunday's general election againstparties in Prime Minister Alexander Stubb's left-right coalition
  • The Centre Party's leader 53-year-old millionaire Juha Sipilä from Oulu in northern Finland is expected to succeed Alexander Stubb as Finland’s next prime minister.
  • Juha Sipila is leader of the opposition Centre party who is a millionaire former telecoms executive a technocrat capable of rescuing Finland from economic slump
  • With all the votes counted, Sipila’s party won 49 seats in the 200-member parliament, while the Finns won 38 seats. Stubb’s centre-right National Coalition won 37 seats with the centre-left Social Democrats picking up 34 seats.



PRIME MINISTER LAYS THE FOUNDATION STONE OF DR. AMBEDKAR INTERNATIONAL CENTRE
  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Dr. Ambedkar International Centre the four storeyed Centre would be built on an area of 3.25 acres and would have a Public Library, Research & Extension Centre, Media-cum-Interpretation Centre, Convention Centre, two auditoriums and Exhibition on the Life of Dr. Ambedkar
  • Project had been conceived in 1992 but not initialized till today but NDA led govt had resolved to complete the work within 20 months.
  • This year marks the 125th Birth Anniversary year of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Paying homage to Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar,
  • The Prime Minister said that Babasaheb Ambedkar stood for all of humanity and was a ray of hope for the marginalized and downtrodden sections of society
  • Shri Narendra Modi said Babasaheb had created great Constitutional institutions such as the Election Commission and Finance Commission, in which the entire nation had immense faith and confidence even today.
