Meteorological Day was observed on 23rd March around the globe.

2.WORLD WATER DAY WAS OBSERVED ON 22NDMARCH:
World
Water day 2015 was observed on 22nd March around the globe.
The theme
for world water day 2015 was . ‘Water
And Sustainable Development’.
NOTE: In 1993, First ever World Water Day was
designated by U.N General Assembly.
3. LEE KUAN YEW PASSED AWAY:
Lee Kuan Yew, the statesman and founding father of Singapore
died at an age of 91.
Lee Kuan
Yew became the first ever Prime Minister of Singapore in 1959.

4. SHASHI KAPOOR HONOURED WITH DADA SAHEB
PHALKE AWARD:
Veteran
Actor- producer Shashi Kapoor is
honored with Dada Saheb Phalke
Award, 2015.
Shashi
Kapoor was honored with the Padma Bhushan Award by the Government of India in
2011.
NOTE:
Dada
Saheb Phalke Award is the highest honorary Award in the field of Cinema .The
Award comprises of Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl and a cash
prize of Rs. 10 lakh.
First
ever Award was presented in 1969 to Devika Rani and a total of 46 people are Awarded till date.
5. NATION OBSERVES MARTYRS DAY:
23rd March
is remarked as Martyrs Day to honor the sacrifice of freedom fighters, Bhagat
Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru.
Bhagat
Singh , Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged to death on 23rdmarch, 1931.

6. RAJENDRA SINGH WINS STOCKHOLM WATER
PRIZE 2015:
Environment
Activist Rajendra Singh is conferred with prestigious Stockholm Water Prize.
Rajendra
Singh is honoured with the Award for his innovative water restoration efforts
and improving water security in rural India.
Rajendra
Singh is known as the ‘Waterman’ of India.
NOTE: - Stockholm water prize is
presented annually since 1991 to the people who have outstanding achievements
in water related activities.
7. NOVAK DJOKOVIC WON 50TH ATP
TITLE:
Novak Djokovic of Serbia won his fourth Indian Wells Open
Tennis Men’s Single Title.
Novak
Djokovic defeated Roger Federer of Switzerland in the final match.
By
winning Indian Wells Open Tennis Men’s Single title, Djokovic claimed 50th ATP
Title of his career.
8.SANIA MIRZA AND MARTINA HINGIS BAGGED
WOMEN’S DOUBLE TITLE:
Sania
Mirza of India along with Martina Hingis of Czech Republic bagged women’s
Double title of BNP Paribas Tennis open.
The Duo
defeated the Russian pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the final
clash held at USA.
