1. MOUNTAINEER JOT SINGH HONOURED WITH TENZING NORGAY NATIONAL ADVENTURE AWARD
i. President Pranab Mukherjee honoured Indo-Tibetan Border Police Officer and mountaineer Jot Singh with The Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award.
i) Tenzing Norgay National Adventure award is named after Indian Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay
ii) It is given by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports

2.  KANNADA WRITER DR.M.M KALBURGI DIED
i.   Senior Kannada writer and former Vice Chancellor of Kannada University Dr. M.M. Kalburgi was shot dead by unidentified persons.
ii.   He was conferred with the Sahitya Academy Award.

3.  INDIAN BANK LAUNCHED INDPAY APPLICATION
i.  Indian Bank has launched IndPay mobile application service for customers to operate Bank accounts anytime from anywhere.


i) Indian Bank was formed in 1907 as private bank but nationalized in 1969 by the government
ii) Headquarter’s at Tamilnadu

1.  ‘NATIONAL SPORTS DAY’: 29 AUGUST
i. The Birth Anniversary of Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand is observed as National Sports Day on 29th August.
ii. President honours sports persons with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, arjuna and Dronacharya Awards on National sports day

2.  INDIA DECLARED AS MATERNAL AND TETANUS FREE
i.    World Health Organization has declared India as Maternal and Tetanus Free Country.
  ii.   Tetanus is an infection caused by  Bacteria.
iii.  It usually attacks on newly born babies and child delivering mother due to unhygienic birthing practices.

3.  TRIPURA TO IMPLEMENT NATIONAL FOOD SECURITY ACT
i.   Tripura has decided to implement National food security act from 1 September 2015
ii. Tripura has become first state from North-East region to implement National Food Security Act.
i) National Food Security Act was implemented in 2013.
ii) It provides 5 kg subsidized food grains to per person per month at Rs 1 to Rs 3 per kg to 2/3rd of population

4. UNION GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCED LIST OF 98 ‘SMART CITIES’
i.  Union Government has announced list of 98 Smart Cities for modern infrastructure and to give a quality life to the citizens with clean and green environment.
ii. The Smart cities Mission was announced by PM Narendra Modi to achieve inclusive Growth.


iii.  UP has maximum no. of  cities 13 Smart Cities.
